HimLocal is incubated at IIT Mandi Catalyst and based in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. Being in the mountains — not a metro — is the point: we build software that fits the operational reality of Himalayan businesses, alongside the people who run them, and we surface them to the travellers looking for exactly what they offer.

The market

A large, under-digitised base — entered where we fit best.

Where we operate

The Himalayan belt — Himachal, Uttarakhand, Ladakh, the North-East — and India's tourism towns: valleys full of cafés, homestays, hotels, shops, guides and adventure operators that serve a large, seasonal traveller flow.

The gap

These businesses are under-digitised. Most have no real website, no direct-booking channel, and depend on aggregators that take a heavy cut and own the customer. The software built for metros doesn't fit their connectivity, price point, or operating reality.

What's expected

As AI-driven discovery and UPI-direct payments mature, the businesses with verified, structured, own-domain presence win the traveller — and keep the margin. HimLocal puts local vendors on the right side of that shift, early.

Live storefronts on custom domains and himlocal.com subdomains — a cricket-gear brand on its own .in, homestays and shops on branded sites — each fast and search-ready.

A discovery marketplace + interactive map

himlocal.com surfaces stays, treks, tours, adventures, cafés and local products on a map-first experience with curated trails, viewpoints and POIs across the Himalaya.

Direct, custody-free payments

UPI-first payments via Razorpay that settle straight to each vendor's own account — the platform never holds funds.

Search & AI visibility, built in

Top-tier Core Web Vitals, structured data, and answer/generative-engine optimisation across the marketplace and every vendor site — measured, not promised.
